In a 50k, a collapse seems more reasonable.

Valerie - I don't feel like I'm too hard on myself, I just expect a lot. Sounds like you ran a good race, but, the conditions caught up with you in those last 5.

And your being at the finish for me was one of MY highlights!Scouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09552903627591694214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8294323887747091246.post-66320425183902673742010-06-04T11:03:13.324-04:002010-06-04T11:03:13.324-04:00I agree with you Ryan, I also ran the 50k last yea...I agree with you Ryan, I also ran the 50k last year and honestly was positive the 25K would only be half as hard.....At least that is what the calculator says....instead the 25K seemed more difficult to me..perhaps I just under estimated it ..again!pathfinderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05064923768168080475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8294323887747091246.post-92154947961947308252010-06-04T09:28:20.833-04:002010-06-04T09:28:20.833-04:00I'm probably the last guy who should be tellin...I'm probably the last guy who should be telling you this but sometimes you just have to take what the course and the conditions give you. Sometimes a death march IS part of the race. Runners are stubborn. We generally know what we're capable of (and what condition we're in) and we mistakenly think this can be applied to ANY course on any day. Pinelands was somewhat humbling. You're right about the fields. It was warm (not brutally hot) but it was 'work' getting through them, probably more so than the hills. They most definitely were wearing you (and the rest of us) down.
So keep your head up and move forward. I give anyone kudos for gutting it out when things are not going well. Rest and recover and get ready for the next one.Jedi Dadihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10366099879750641360noreply@blogger.com
